How UAP Records Reach the National Archives
NARA’s frequently asked questions explain how federal agencies identify UAP records, prepare digital copies and transfer publicly releasable material into Record Group 615.
For releasable records containing redactions, agencies transfer both redacted and unredacted copies. Public copies are made available through the National Archives Catalog as processing is completed.
This guide is useful for understanding why the absence of a document from the online catalog at a given moment does not by itself prove that no related record exists.
